The parents are the primary sanctuary of a believer. The Prophet (PBUH) placed the service of parents directly after the worship of Allah. The mother is honored three times more for her struggle, her sacrifice, and the celestial fact that Paradise lies beneath her feet. The father is the middle gate of Jannah—his pleasure is the pleasure of the Creator. To love them is to lower the wing of humility and to serve them with silence, patience, and profound gratitude.

A Shield of Mercy
Kinship is a protection against a bad end. The kindness shown to a relative is a charity that heavy in the scales of the Last Day.

Serving parents and being kind to relatives is a means of expiation for one's sins and a direct path to the pleasure of Allah.
